Main News

At a simple ceremony in the John Paul II Library Maynooth, on November 9th, attended by provincial archivist Father Michael Hughes the Oblates completed the transfer to the library in Maynooth of a set of Missions (1862-1972) and a set of Vie Oblate Life (1942-2000), along with some other works.

The University has been trying to augment its holdings of mission history materials with a view to ongoing research and classroom teaching. It offers a course in ?Mission history and Ireland? to second year students in history, which is also available to students from St. Patrick?s College. Dr Jacinta Prunty, senior lecturer in history, described the donation as ?wonderfully generous? and ?invaluable?. We see it as a unique opportunity to contribute to the work of scientific research into mission history.
