Fr Michael O'Reilly OMI

We regret to announce the death of Fr Michael O'Reilly OMI, D.C.L. who died peacefully in the early hours of Sunday (Corpus Christi) in his ninetieth year.

Fr Michael was born on 27 December 1917 in Dublin. His family moved to Kildare soon after he started primary school.

He is remembered as a great servant of the Oblate Congregation who served in many capacities: formator, professor of canon law and Procurator General to the Holy See for the Oblates from 1966 to 1988.

In his retirement he served for many years in the Dublin Regional Marriage Tribunal.

We extend our sympathy to Fr Michael?s family and his many friends and former students.

The Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin and the former Archbishop, Cardinal Desmond Connell both attended the service for the reception of Fr Michael's remains on Tuesday evening, June 12th.

Many former students and colleagues in the field of canon law joined his family, friends and Oblate community for the Funeral Mass at Mary Immaculate Church on Wednesday, June 13th.

Fr Eugene King, Vicar General of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, represented the Superior General and the General Administration at the Funeral Mass, which was led by Provincial, Fr Willie Fitzpatrick.
